Heart Heat Pack

The giveaway for this issue is a DIY heat pack kit! Just the thing for easing menstrual cramps, and looks great too!

This kit contains one insert, one outer flannel cotton sham cover with directions for sewing it up & suggestions for fillers & use.

This comes unfilled so that you can fill it with your choice of filling. Suggestions include pearl barley, buck wheat hulls, rice, flax seed, cherry pits – and you can add dried herbs too.

Many ideas & recipes for fillers can be found by searching the internet. You will need to hand or machine sew the insert closed after filling with your chosen ingredients. Directions for the standard heating of a barley filled bag are included & is generally the standard directions for any type of filler. Microwave Heart Heating Pad Kit.  Approx. 12″ span at widest point. Great
heart shape design for menstrual cramps.  This kit contains one medium weight canvas duck insert (unfilled) one outer flannel cotton sham cover &
directions & suggestions for fillers & use.

You will need ONE QUART (four cups) of a filler such as PEARL BARLEY, BUCK WHEAT HULLS, RICE, FEED CORN, CHERRY PITS, FLAX SEED or your
favorite combination of ingredients. Lavender bud, eucalyptus or mint
can also be added in the mix. cherry pits & herbs need to be dried.  Barley should be pearled not hulled. Many ideas  & recipes for fillers can be found
by searching the internet. You will also need a strong cotton or poly~cotton thread. A denim sewing machine needle or if sewing insert closed by hand, a strong thick needle that can sew through heavier fabrics.

Directions for construction~ fill insert opening with a generous one quart of
desired filler, stitch opening securely closed either by machine or by using a
fine hand whip stitch & doubled thread. Load filled insert into sham. Loading
the top rounded  portion of the heart first is easiest. Directions for the standard heating of a barley filled bag included inside &  is generally the standard directions for all filler.

    Aw that heart pack seems so cute and perfect for winter. 🙂 I love winter I’ll hate it when spring comes around. Can’t wait till the next issue.
